For who is Namibia?

For the adventurers, trekkers, lovers of adventure sport and nature

For the experienced safari people who come here to see animals in completely different settings

Namibia is a land of very specific textures and, for me, the most beautiful country on planet Earth. Visually speaking, It’s unbeatable. I have been coming here since 2007 and immediately understood the potential of this place and its immense value in the natural world.

Namibia is about orange and red, and rocks, and dust, and sunlight, and winds. But mostly it’s about space.

It’s the one country that “physically-speaking” is incomparable to any other in Africa. It’s desert escapes, dunes and rocky mountains, endless sand views, little human contact, wild ocean coast and seemingly -and I say seemingly- not abundant views of wildlife. It’s a place for adventurers who like the idea of driving in straight gravel roads for hours on end. Or for the off-the-beaten-track people who love landscape-photography and will fly above the most contrasting landscapes ever. It’s a place of great distances, where wildlife has adapted to living in the most surreal habitats. It’s for those who like nature, photography, and seeing animals in the most unexpected places.

You can do it flying, driving or self driving. You can experience safaris on a 4x4 but also activities like quad bikes, horseback riding, balloon, trekking, sand-surf, community visits or learning about wildlife conservation projects. As far as animals are concerned: rhinos are a big highlight in Namibia, as well as the desert-adapted elephants and lions. And in certain regions, you access many of the other iconic creatures one can expect to see in Africa.

When I started exploring Namibia, the lodge offer was more limited. Currently, the properties I work with are all exceptional. Whether we mean location, activities or wildlife “rarities” - one can have them all. Be prepared for some memorable surprises and incredible pictures. When you leave, you’ll see: Namibia will leave on you that feeling of space and freedom…

Namibia is a great driving destination… if you feel safe driving for long hours on gravel roads. Landscapes are incredible and you get a great sense of being in the middle of nowhere. But you can also move between regions on a light Aircraft and that is even more beautiful.

Namibia is the country of the unexpected wildlife encounters, in the most inhospitable places. But it’s the only place on Earth where you will see desert-adapted elephants and lions or hyenas on a beach, or even antelopes climbing gigantic dunes. It’s also famous for its black rhino, that you can track on foot. Every region has wildlife, Etosha National Park being the most famous of them all.

Being such a vast country that you can visit by driving around. we advise a minimum of 9 nights to properly see some regions.

Meet the Himba tribes or the Bushmen, visit a deserted city, go kite surfing and wind surfing, hop on a boat to the ocean to see the seals, flamingos or dolphins, go quad biking or mountain biking in endless tracks, go hike or explore endless trails on foot, discover geological rock art of centuries ago.

Namibia is for those who like adventure sports, trekking, driving and also for those who love African wildlife. It’s a great outdoors country, and fantastic as a family destination.

You can visit Namibia any time of the year. But if heat is not your thing, avoid the warmer months, around Xmas time. It’s also a country where it rains very little so you will not really risk to get wet.
