FOR WHO IS ETHIOPIA?

For the adventurers and explorers. the lovers of history, archeology, culture and ancient art, anthropology, for those who don’t mind not staying in luxury accommodation.

NOTE: Ethiopia is not a safari destination.

Ethiopia is not a safari destination. It’s a deeply rich and diverse cultural country, with so much to see and even more to learn. There are different regions, different local interactions and long distances to cover. It is not a country for luxury travellers, only because tourism is still yet to fully developed - hence the fascination of it. Although not seen enough by foreigners, Ethiopia is welcoming and eager to share its incredible sightings and centuries-long history. It’s one of the most incredible destinations in Africa, a place where you can visit villages inhabited by semi nomadic people, attend religious ceremonies, spend time in local markets or with different tribes whose rituals, aesthetics and lives are equally rich and contrasting.

It’s that opportunity to see the other side of Africa, the one with ages of long traditions and the most fascinating culture too. Ethiopia stands with a palpable difference from the western world, and that is in itself a lesson to be learned. To those who are eager to understand our origins, and enter other life experiences, this is your trip to make.

Most distances between regions are better to be done on a commercial flight. Other parts of the country can be done by car, with a driver and guide.

From unique Archaeology gems (castle, monasteries, rock or cave chuches - some being Unesco World Heritage Sites), to hikes in nature to see the Gelada baboons or Ethiopian Wolf, to witnessing african tribes cerimonies, or visiting villages habited by jews. There is so much worth a visit in this country,

There is SO much to visit in Ethiopia that we recommend at least 8 nights to see parts of it.

In terms of culture and history Ethiopia has so many monuments and (rock) churches to visit. One can also have a traditional coffee tasting experience, visit ancient villages and cultures, interact with diverse religious traditions, go on hikes surrounded by the most incredible landscapes, visit places with lakes or waterfalls.

Ethiopia is easy to go all year long. And warm. January and February are cooler months.
